The Monster Hunter and the Siren Chapter 11
Chapter 11: Vee then looked over at Ari and remarked, "Of course, I would help Desi if anything or anyone attacked her, she is my friend." Ari relaxed a bit as he replied, "Thank you, Vee. I'll text Tia later to let her know what I suspect." Vee looked at Ari a bit thoughtfully as she asked, "And just how do you think your sister will react when she finds out just who you are protecting, Ari? Considering just how she and your brother found you that day?" Ari sadly chuckled as he answered, "Tia will be suspicious at first, but she and Tor both trust my judgment." Turning to look into Desiree's eyes he continued, "Well, professionally that is. It might take a lot of fast talking on my part to keep her calm as Desiree and I explain what is between us on a personal level." Desiree's bell-like laugh floated over the table as she remarked, "Ari, with how economical you are in the use of words. That just might be a big enough shock to let us explain ourselves to Tia." A chuckle slipped out

Chapter: 10 As Masatake went to open the doors of the Siren's Club. Desiree and Ari walked to the same table Ari sat at the previous night. Desiree asked, "Ari, are you going to be okay? A lot has happened, last night and today." Ari smiled sadly as he spoke, "I'll be fine, Desiree. So don't worry." Desiree responded, "I'll worry. Everyone will know you are a Hunter, Ari. And that will upset a few of my kind." Ari nodded in understanding, before answering, "My being a Hunter has nothing to do with why I'm here. Keeping you alive is all I am here for. As for what is between us. It is just extra motivation to reach that goal, Dear." Desiree smiled at that stating, "I never thought that word would thrill me or fill me with such calm, Darling." She then leaned forward and quickly kissed Ari. As Desiree straightened up. She remarked, "Well I have to greet the guests as they get seated. So try not to scare too many of them, Ari." Ari replied, "Most will know that I'm here to protect you at

Chapter:9 Just then Ari walked into the office carrying a suit bag over his shoulder. With a sad smile on his face, Ari remarked, "She is right you know, Masatake. What is between Desiree and me is ... how to put this?" A moment of thought passed then Ari continued, "What Desiree and I have, has the feeling of continuation. Sort of like something interrupted and now retaken up again." Masatake sighed, "I have heard of things like this happing from my mother. So I understand, but this is going to be hard to explain to the staff Desi." Desiree nodded as she replied, "I know that, Masatake. But until this mess with the Horrors is taken care of. Ari is going to be with me. So we can use that he is guarding me as the starting point of an explanation. Most of our kind will understand a 'Boon Right'." Masatake looked quizzically at Desiree as he asked, "Who asked Ari for a 'Boon Right'? And what was asked of him?" Desiree sighed and answered, "Masatake, you could just ask Ari that question.

Chapter:7 Two hours later Ari and Desiree entered Ari's room at the Grand with Ari stating, "We could have been here 90 minutes ago and have already ordered room service for lunch Desiree." Desiree's laugh filled the room as she shot back, "Well you weren't complaining about this when we were doing what we did to each other Ari. And lunch would be a nice precursor to restarting that in this bed." Ari retorted, "No I wasn't complaining. And I'm not complaining now. But we could be finishing lunch right now too, Desiree." Desiree sat on the bed as Ari headed to the room's phone, and looked around. She then stated "Well I like how they remodeled and modernized the rooms. But you know this was my suite once upon a time." Ari pause in calling the kitchen and remarked, "Oh? When?" Desiree answered, "It was just before I bought the brownstone. Back then the 'Grand' was where all the important people stayed or hung out. I made a lot of money as the ballroom singer." Ari chuckled at that as he

Chapter: 6 Desiree woke to a mid-morning sun streaming into her bedroom window and the smell of something cooking from the kitchen. She sat up and got out of bed, grabbed a short kimono-style robe, and headed downstairs to the kitchen. When she got there, Desiree saw Ari in jeans and a tee shirt cooking something. Desiree sniffed the air before stating, "How did you know?" Ari looked over his shoulder saying, "Oh you like pancakes too? they'll be ready in a few." Desiree walked up behind Ari and hugged him, commenting, "Well last night was memorable, Ari. And I'm still alive despite your worries." Ari leaned his head against Desiree's and remarked, "Well last night was not what I expected. But I thank you, and you are welcome." Desiree leaning against, Ari could smell cedarwood and bergamot and noticed his hair was wet. With a pout, Desiree remarked, "So you really don't sleep very much. Not only did you start breakfast. But you also got a shower in too." As Ari flipped the six

Chapter:5 As Ari was prepping everything to make the omelets, Desiree looked on for a few moments before asking, "So how did my sister Ekdikésis and you meet? And when? Ari cracked 3 eggs into a bowl, As he whisked them together replied, "It was 3 years ago. She was looking for me. Had been since I killed Kakoétheia from what she told me. But she swam into my cove and was looking for a meal when she ... found my place." Ari added in the tomatoes and shredded cucumber, and gyro meat, whisking them into the eggs, before continuing, "She was a bit startled when she swam under my pier and felt the ward I have on it. So she popped her head above the water and saw me." He then slowly poured the mix into a skillet. As he watched the eggs, Ari chuckled, "She kind of weakly held up a halibut, no a flounder as an explanation." Desiree chuckled at that, remarking, "Well, Ekdikésis always did have a weakness for flounder." Ari folded the omelet over and added some feta cheese on top as he broke

Chapter:4 Ari followed Desiree into the Brownstone's foyer. He looked around at the mix of decor styles. Desiree remarked, "It's not much but I call it home." Ari replied, "That is all one can ask of a building. But just this room alone would have a dozen or so Naval and Maritime museums fighting over the decor." Desiree smiled as she offhandedly commented, "Oh those bubbles? They are just some things I found laying on the ocean floor." As the two entered the living room, Ari remarked, "I'm sure that is where you found those artifacts, Desiree. But in just the foyer I counted six lost shipwrecks nameplates." Then a ship's bell caught Ari's attention. Ari pointed to the bell stating, "Well the US Navy would just love to know where you found that, Desiree." Desiree's long sensuous fingers traced the letters on the bell, remarking, "They fought hard and with courage. And they won. But they were doomed from the start. The Horrors of the Deep damaged their ship too much. The crew was too

The Monster Hunter and the Siren. Chapter 3
Chapter 3: As Desiree sang her next set of songs, she slipped an undertone of compulsion into the songs. Something told her that, the Hunter ... Ari ... would keep his word and not start any trouble. But some of her more esoteric patrons would lash out in a panic. So she set the compulsion to keep everyone relaxed. The night ended without any untoward encounters. As Desiree sat in her office going over the books and ordering supplies the Club needed. Her Club Manager walked in saying, "Desi, the Hunter is the last one in the club. He doesn't look like he's going to leave." Desiree looked up at her manager, an Oni named Masatake, replying, "No he's not. He has word from my sister Ekdikésis. So just leave him be for now." Masatake then asked, "Would you like for me and the bouncers to stay? Four of us against a Hunter should be more than enough if he becomes a problem Desi." Desiree shook her head saying, "It won't be an issue. But I don't think you or the bouncers could take him. He's
Hey all,
I had something in a different venue I'd like to share. I love crafts of all kinds and I think some of my most favorite creative outlets have been role-playing games and creating a story or world for others to play in. And I've found a new system I'm super excited about.
Simple System Table-Top Roleplaying Game System
In this system you use cards to resolve conflict rolls and interactions and its really rules lite, only 30ish pages in the manual. So its quick to learn, highly customize-able and I think it would be a great way to get people playing role-playing games or storytelling sessions when they might be weary to jump into
